SET Assessment for 11+
The CSSE 11+ Assessment is used by the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE) and is a standardised exam designed to gauge prospective pupils’ abilities across Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning.
Subjects covered in SET Assessments
CSSE offers assessments for the following subjects:
- English
- Maths
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-verbal Reasoning
The schools can choose a combination of these subjects for their entrance exams depending on their selection criteria.
SET Assessment Exam Format
- SET papers are mostly multiple-choice format with five answer choices.
- Some of the schools which use the SET 11 plus for selection will invite successful pupils to complete a second assessment which requires extended writing- as opposed to the multiple-choice format of the initial test.
Please note that Calculators are not allowed.
